Biography in Brief
My name's My Sovann, was born in Pursat City (former Pursat Province) in 1985, Cambodia, and who is the solely son among the other six sisters in the family, has completely graduated bachelor degree in 2009, specialist in Business English in a very struggle condition while the villagers in my village discriminated on education. In the village, no one has attended higher education, excepted me, even their families living conditions were better.
Even though, after I finished public high school, my parents have had hesitated whether should continue supporting me on pursuing a higher education or not, after that I and my parents had discussed with each other while the other six sisters and relatives completely disagreed on sending me to a university in Phnom Penh, due to living condition costs, no available job, and other concerns. The discussions were made; as a result, my parents wanted me to take an examination to be a teacher at that time because they considered as the sisters and others had mentioned. Obviously, that was the hard time for me by thinking that what should I do to convince my parents to support me then night after night and day after day for one week, I thrived to coax them, due to long to attend higher education as well as change turn of my life.
As the fruitful result, I have convinced them to support me for higher education while I thrived my best to earn some partial scholarship to support myself as well. I was catching a part-time job while I was attending a university, leading me had a fully confidence on communication skills with the public as well as NGOs and Companies. Therefore, as the third year student, I was completely gotten a full time-job as well by attending classes only at weekend and night time. By then, in 2010, I have got Norway scholarship under FK organization collaborated with HelpAge International Cambodia (HAC) in which I have been working for, to pursuing an 11-month course as a Media Officer in Vietnam, Hanoi.
